Chelsea Clinton’s Beautiful Transformation

Since her marriage to Marc Mezvinsky on July 31, 2010 at Astor Courts in Rhinebeck, N.Y., Chelsea Clinton has remained quiet and out of the eye of the public. But today, congratulations are in order as the former first daughter has been hired with NBC news. She will begin work as a ‘special correspondent” with “NBC Nightly News” in a series called “Making a Difference.”

I’ve enjoyed seeing Chelsea’s transformation over the years from a young, gangly, teenager to college graduate to beautiful bride. And, in the process of becoming a beautiful woman, it may go without saying but the biggest visual transformation has been  . . .  the hair . . . the hair . . . the hair!

So, this should be a heads-up to you gals with frizzy, difficult to manage hair, who haven’t been able to buy into the fact that smooth, straight, shiny hair is a viable option for you.  It is; Now, I’m not saying curly isn’t beautiful, cause it is. But, smoothing treatments are especially great for those of you in humid climates, who are tired of frizzy hair and want more control and predictability.  You really can now to go beautifully smooth and shiny without looking like a broomstick or compromising the integrity of your hair . . . and Chelsea Clinton is proof!

There are a number of brands of smoothing treatments available now and that may make choosing one more difficult. The big controversy with smoothing treatments has been the formaldehyde. Formaldehyde is a carcinogen which are in excess in some smoothing products, like Brazilian Blow Out.  WebMD reports, “In early September 2011, the FDA publicly warned the Brazilian Blowout hair care company that its hair-straightening products contain “dangerously high levels” of formaldehyde. The levels ranged from 8.7% to 10.4%.” An acceptable level is around 2%.

Smoothing treatments are a wonderful thing for fighting frizzy, unmanageable hair and are now being safely given at reputable hairdressing salons. If you’re interested, have it done professionally and don’t be afraid to ask how long they have done it and what about the formaldehyde safety factor?  If they don’t give you an acceptable response . . . spend your money elsewhere.
