Do it yourself hair coloring

My husband walked in on me while I was coloring my own hair yesterday? He chuckled and said “If those 4,500 women who will visit www.visual-makeover.com today could only see you now, we should turn on the web cam just for laughs. I had an appointment later that day with my hairstylist to get it cut. My hubby thought it funny that I don’t get it done at my hair salon. He likes my hair color, but as he walks into the bathroom to see me doing a contortionist act, he asks why I don’t leave the work to my hairstylist. Ya know, husbands just don’t get it, he just doesn’t understand the relationship that we all have with our hair. He thinks I’m nuts, to put on the cape and “play with the hair color chemistry set” and to go to all that bother.
I don’t mind coloring my own hair really. If I’m honest here, I like the convenience of being able to do my hair coloring on my time, no travel involved and it’s cheap. It takes me 1 1/2 hours, from start to finished hairstyle. I am maybe 35% to 40% gray hair (actually I never let it come through enough to get an accurate reading. But doing it myself gives me a glimpse as to what is really going on with my gray hair. I beginning to believe that I’m following in my mothers tracks. I’m graying just as my Mom did, there is a lot genes being passed on through our hair. So if you want a peak into the future of what you’re going to see in the mirror soon, just look at mom closely this Sunday.
I know, I know . . . kinda scary for some of us.
