5 Perfect Updos for Homecoming
It’s back to school season already, which means that homecoming is right around the corner! Homecoming is all about showing your school spirit, having fun with your friends, and dancing with your crush! Homecoming updos are the perfect low maintenance hairstyle for this event. For homecoming, consider these fun and flirty looks:
Soft French Twist
You’ll get a big bang for wearing this look, a modified French twist that looks way more complicated than it is. Curl face framing tendrils with a curling iron to get a soft, romantic look. Leaving your front tendrils and bangs out, pull back the right side of your hair to the nape of your neck and secure it there with bobby pins. Take the left section of your hair and twist it tight toward the right. Keep twisting and tucking until you’ve snaked your hair all the way to the right. Pin the updo in place and let the rest of your locks fall in a loose pony. Miley Cyrus likes this updo, which is the perfect combo of flirty and formal.
Messy Braid and Twist
If you don’t have time for an updo like Miley’s, messy braids and twists are on trend and easy to pull off in a few minutes. The key to this look is keeping your mane a little loose. For a bun, pull back your hair but leave out any bangs or tendrils you want to fall around your face. Loosely twist your hair from roots to ends, then wrap your hair around to make a bun. Secure your hair, but loosely so the bun seems like it may fall apart. Use bobby pins to reinforce the bun so your Hairdo doesn’t tumble down mid-dance or, try a cute headband.
For a messy braid, begin the same way. Instead of twisting your hair, separate it into three strands and braid loosely (without pulling the hair or keeping the strands too tense). Secure the braid with an elastic. You can glam this style up a bit by working a ribbon or some feathers in with one of the strands if you’d like.
If you’re more of a neat freak with your locks, try a tight, high bun. Jenna Ushkowitz (aka Tina from Glee) rocks this style for an updo that’s both easy to go up and super glam for the homecoming dance. To get this look, comb your locks and leave out any tendrils that you want to frame your face. Pull your hair into a high pony and secure the pony with a hair elastic.Wrap your hair around the ponytail base to get a high bun. Secure the bun with bobby pins.
Make these updo’s yours by incorporating hair accessories like fascinators, headbands, hair cuffs, or other glam hair jewelry. While you can put up any of these homecoming styles by yourself, prepping for the dance is always more fun with a friend. So get together with your gal pals and have some fun while primping for fall’s first homecoming dance.
